To start off our tour of the “Taste of the Holidays at the Galleria Dallas” our first stop was The Second Floor Bistro, located, as you might expect, on the second floor of The Westin Galleria Dallas. We met up with about a dozen local bloggers in the cozy atmosphere of the bistro, awaiting the start of a fabulous evening of stuffing our faces.
Since food is not only about the ingredients, but about the story and the experience, we were greeted by the Second Floor Bistro Chef, Joel Harloff. Chef Harloff introduced us to our first course, whiskey braised pork sliders, paired with a 12 year old Dalmore Scotch. The pairing was wonderful as the slightly peppery flavor of the scotch nicely balances the subtle sweetness of the pulled pork and pumpernickel bun. It was a great experience, and it was nice to hear the Chef’s thought process in the pairing. If you are looking for a sweet and succulent sandwich, the whiskey braised pork sliders would be a good choice.
Whiskey braised pork: with house mustard cabbage slaw and 4-year aged gouda served on a pumpernickel slider bun (Served on Exclusive Holiday Menu)
Dalmore: 12 year, northern highlands (Scotch “ served neat)
We enjoyed a fun night of food and beverages, free of charge, courtesy of the Galleria Dallas with several of our foodie friends. Our honest opinions as posted here remain unaffected by the complimentary nature of the meal. We had a great time, enjoyed some wonderful food, and we hope you enjoy our recap!

Tips from the Internets
- Awesome things we’ve tried: the cheese plate, the calamari salad, veal osso bucco, crispy golden tile with okra, butternut squash soup with lardons, duck confit pot pie, and a lemon cake dessert. All ridiculously good (especially the calamari and pot pie). ~ Tricia, Yelp
- On to the food… oh my, the food. Quite possibly some of the richest, tastiest, exquisite food I have had in a long time. For me there are two types of food – the kind that ‘fills the hole’ and the kind that makes your taste buds cry with joy and your tummy do a major happy dance. This place has both. You leave satisfied on so many levels. ~ William, Yelp
- Best selection of whiskeys in town. ~ OpenTable
