Rory and I both are native Texans, so when Ozarka reached out to us to see if we’d be interested in a partnership to share some of our favorite Texas spots we jumped at the chance. This post is sponsored by Ozarka® Brand Natural Spring Water.
It’s been 4.5 years since the launch of Dallas Food Nerd. With that comes archives of thousands of photos saved in the cloud. Many of those photos never make it to the blog. Not because we aren’t fond of the places or memories where those images originated, mostly because we’ve moved on to the next adventure. So this list, is only a few of our go-to spots, and certainly not a comprehensive account. If we were given that task we might as well write a book.
Local parks
Fooding in a park is high up on our activities. Whether we are roadtripping to another part of Texas or just want a fun Saturday day date, packing a few snacks, along with our trusty zip-up picnic blanket is one of the easiest ways to take a break. And of course, staying hydrated is the name of the game when you’re on the go. Today we opted for the Sport Top bottles of Ozarka.
Lately we’ve been bouncing between Klyde Warren Park and Vitruvian. If you’re the Pokeman Go types, Vitruvian, while North of 635 (just barely), has some serious Pokestop and Pokemon catching opportunities.
Patio breakfast, lunch, and dinner
While some may argue that patio dinning and August don’t go together, I still love me a good patio experience. Granted the covered or air conditioned patios win in the summer. Pair that with a gorgeous view, and you have a winning combo. This beautiful spot it at Mesero – Prestonwood, situated right off of the Prestonwood Country Club golf course.
Roadtrips
Pre-kiddo we traveled 3 or more times a year. Some of that included short roadtrips to visit friends, budget friendly unplanned adventures, and the pre-planned bigger spend travel adventures. Austin and San Antonio have both been in our recent road trip rotation. If we’re venturing down 35, Buccees in Temple is a must stop location. And of course on our way back from Austin, Czech Stop is a non-negotiable.
Did you know you can visit any of Ozarka’s 3 Texas springs? They are all pretty close to DFW. Check out their map (https://www.ozarkawater.com/our-springs/) to see if one of the locations is on the way to your next endeavors. Ozarka® Brand Natural Spring Water’s springs are a hop, skip, and a jump from each other (and not far from some familiar places).
Local Eats
If you follow us on Instagram you know we love everything from benedicts to burgers and have a number of frequent Food Nerd haunts. Don’t ask me to pick a favorite spot, but I can recommend 5 awesome ones.
Cane Rosso – Seriously, have never had a pizza from here that we didn’t love, including their full-size desert pizzas.
Super excited now that I don’t have to go to #deepellum for a @canerossotx fix. #pizza #carrollton

Kenny’s Italian Kitchen – This may not look like much, but it turns into the best meatballs in town.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop – Speaking of patios, just about any Fuzzy’s you find will have a great one.
Found my new regular spot for #patioweather workday lunches.

Twisted Root Burger Co. – Tired of your basic burger? This place has some serious options. Last time we were there, lamb burgers were on the menu.
bacon, goat cheese, guac, green chiles – could you possibly need any other burger toppings?

Del Frisco’s Grille – Everything is awesome. . . that is all. Not shown: Truffle mac and cheese that is to die for!
Prime Sliced #Steak at @dfgrille with twice baked potato. #rare #fortworth

Don’t think we’ve officially introduced the youngest member of Dallas Food Nerd. He quite enjoyed his first “assignment”, modeling for picnic photos.
