Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck is ringing in the Year of the Dragon with a prix fixe menu showcasing Asian-inspired dishes representing the five Chinese elements: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth.
Make your reservations for the tempting, creative five-course menu, inclusive of a chefs amuse, a pastry prelude and a decadent dessert. Dishes are designed to evoke themes of the Chinese New Year like good fortune and power, and they will ensure that all visitors start the Year of the Dragon off right.
I was fortunate to try this menu at a media dinner. The Chinese New Year menu will be available alongside the a la carte menu now through February 3, with a special appearance by Chef Wolfgang Puck on the evening of February 1, 2012. The celebratory menu is priced at $125 per guest.
Starter:
Gulf Shrimp Springroll & Egg Drop Soup
1st Course – Fire Dragon
Wok Fired Lobster Dumplings with XO Chili Sauce
The chili sauce produces an amazing firework in your mouth. One of my favorite dishes on this menu.
2nd Course – Water Dragon
Roasted Loup De Mer with
Preserved Lemon & Black Pepper Sauce
3rd Course – Wood Dragon
Apple Wood Smoked Peking Duck
You can smell this dish as it approaches the table. It is my absolute favorite dish on this menu. The smoked flavor brings out the sweetness of the duck which is cooked perfectly.
4th Course – Earth Dragon
Szechuan Pepper Crusted Filet with
Wok Fired Longevity Noodles
Finale:
House Made Fortune Cookie and Tangerine Sorbet with Golden Sticky Cake
“Wow!” is all that I can say about this cake. It is served at perfect temperature – just a little warm. It is wonderful way to end this dynamic menu.
