Located in West Village, Cork Wine Bar may be a familiar name to Dallas winos. I’ve been there several times myself during the past few years. It’s a casual spot to try new wines from all over the world and even book special events for work or social gatherings. The service and elegant atmosphere is always included!
Ashley Powell, Dallas Food Nerd’s newest blogger, and I attended Cork’s free and open-to-the-public wine tasting earlier this month. We interviewed Cork’s owner Stephanie Rennells and learned about her favorite food pairings with the wine we tasted. Take a look!
Mayu Pedro Ximenez: “This wine is very dry, so I would do Thai style roasted red snapper with ginger and chiles.” (Stephanie also mentioned this is a great option for patio parties!)
Hirsh Gruner Veltliner: “This wine is an exotic alternative to sauv blanc and pairs well with roast pork loin or grilled scallops, with brussel sprouts and artichoke.”
Albert Bichot Chablis: “Herb marinated grilled sea bass would pair perfectly with this wine! Oysters and raw fish are outstanding choices too.”
Mas Daumas Gassac Sparkling: “I like this with Chinese food. Beef with broccoli or a Schezuan chicken. This wine pairs with most anything, which is why I love bubbles!” (This selection was Ashely and I’s favorite wine of the night!)
After the tasting, we were provided with gift cards to purchase additional wine by the glass. I’m excited to go back and have a wine night with my girl friends!
