Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant is a great place to consider if you’re looking for a quick, fun getaway with great food options!

Just 90 mins from Dallas, Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant is a modern entertainment destination that offers everything from luxurious accommodations, fun gaming options, spa experiences and some of the best food around town.

The 4-star AAA four diamond resort is owned and operated by Choctaw Nation who also owns and operates three casino & resorts and four casinos in southeast Oklahoma.

Rooms and Suites

Choctaw has several room types and suites in each of their towers. In fact, they recently renovated 300+ rooms in the Grand Tower and opened Sky Tower about two years ago.

The standard rooms have convenient and comfy accommodations you can expect in most hotels such as king/queen beds, desk and chair workspace and a television.

The suites are great for those looking for a nice upgrade in space and additional amenities such as a living area and a kitchen/kitchenette option. The Presidential Suite is the ultimate luxury suite with a sweet view of Oklahoma outside the windows.

All Things FOOD

And now the moment you’ve been waiting for … the many food options at Choctaw! I was so impressed with the vast amount of food venues and bar options at the resort. If you’re into fast-casual establishments you certainly have many to choose from like Smashburger, Cinnabon, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Papa John’s Pizza…and of course no entertainment venue is complete without the crowd favorite, Starbucks!

New Food Hall

Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant has a new food hall that showcases some great food choices for you to enjoy once you hit it big at the casino! The venue features five different types of cuisine ranging from BBQ to Italian, with Velvet Taco serving as the anchor and signature chain. The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma says the District Hall is designed as a modern communal space where guests can enjoy both great food and artwork created by tribal artists.

The first stop on my list was The Pit, a cozy BBQ spot serving brisket, sausage pork and BBQ bans, potato salad and fried okra for sides. I had the BBQ Brisket sandwich, and it was delicious! The meat was perfectly smoked, and the jalapeno roasted garlic aioli was a tasty touch to my sandwich, and yes, I requested extra!

My sweet, smoky sandwich put me in the mood for some HEAT, so next up was South Hot Chicken. Their chicken tenders are tasty and super crunchy which I loved, and the fries were hot and nicely salted. There are several dipping sauces to choose from, the BBQ and Honey Mustard sauces were my favorite. Don’t forget to try their Pecan Pie stuffed cookie, it’s a perfect end to your meal!

I stayed in the Sky Tower during my visit and was immediately attracted to Salt & Stone, a modern Southern cuisine restaurant on the main floor that focuses on seasonal ingredients. The “Salt” stands for specialty dishes from the sea and “Stone” references dishes from the land, both made will all fresh ingredients. I’d heard that this was the place to be for a fantastic brunch, but my sweet tooth kicked as I passed by, so I stopped in for some dessert.

Salt & Stone did not disappoint! My two favorites were the Banana Pudding Crème Pie (still dreaming of this one), made of fresh pastry cream, bananas, whipped cream and vanilla wafers.

The Peach Cobbler Cheesecake was to die for also. I loved that it was chock full of fresh peaches on a tasty vanilla wafer crust. Truly 2 of the best desserts I’ve had in a while.

The true feather in the casino cap is the 1832 Steakhouse. This is the signature steakhouse for the casino and is also located in the Sky Tower. It’s everything you’d expect in a top-notch steakhouse with a great selection of steaks, chops and various seafood dishes along with a full-service bar and wine list.

What I Ate:

  • Fritto Misto -Masa crusted calamari paired with crawfish and shrimp with blistered peppers and pink peppercorns for a nice salty pop.
  • Wedge Salad – served with black pepper bacon, Point Ryes blue cheese and heirloom tomatoes.
  • Pan Seared Chilean Bass – a nice slow poached seabass with a white truffle vichyssoise, shaved pistachios and a celery and dill crema.
  • Peppercorn Crusted Filet Mignon – perfectly cooked and paired nicely with their house béarnaise sauce.
  • Crispy Brussel Sprouts – I told the waiter about my absolute LOVE for a good brussels sprouts dish, and she had the chef jazz up my order a bit by adding red peppers and jalapenos to my side, crispy perfection!

I had an AMAZING time at Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant! It’s so easy to see why it’s such a popular destination. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a quick vacation getaway while enjoying some tasty restaurants along the way.

Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant is located at 4216 S. Hwy 69/75, Durant, OK 74701.
