I know that we are technically Dallas Food Nerds, but sometimes opportunities take you places you never thought you would go! (ok, that’s a little dramatic, but soak in the effect anyway) Elysa and I are leaving for our honeymoon cruise on Monday, and as luck would have it, we are coming back just in time to catch the Austin Food & Wine Festival April 27-29th on our way back! We’ll take that as a sign that it’s time to stretch our legs and take our foodie experience into one of the most famous foodie cities in the state! It’s not a bad drive from Dallas so feel free to join us!
So many of us think about the awesome food truck experience that came out of Austin and is slowly making it’s way to Dallas, but that’s not what we’ll be checking out while we are there. The Austin Food and Wine Festival is about taking it up a notch and experiencing the best this city has to offer. Presented by Food & Wine Magazine, some of Texas’ most celebrated chefs, wine, and spirits will be on hand to make this a truly memorable event.
I’m looking forward to seeing the likes of Tim Love (Iron Chef), Tyson Cole (Uchi and Uchiko in Austin), and Masaharu Morimoto (Morimoto NYC & Napa) show off their collective culinary muscles with hands-on demos. Events abound, ranging from stocking a home bar, the art of sushi, Italian pasta, savory chocolate, and even a 10,000 square foot Grand Tasting Pavilion with over 50 of the finest beverages in the nation. Man this is going to be fun!
