On March 9th we recognize one of the great American food holidays, National Meatball Day! At Kenny’s Italian Kitchen in Addison, prepare to be amazed! Addison restaurateur Kenny Bowers will offer his famous Midnight Meatballs for $1 each from 3pm to 10pm.
Weighing in at a quarter pound with a record of 23 (I believe it is 23) meatballs, step right up to take on the meatball challenge! If my math is correct, that is approximately 6 pounds of meatballs… WOW! Kenny invited Dallas Food Nerd to come check out the labor of love that goes into each plump hunk of meat, and wants to share his recipe with you too! Prep work began on the Midnight Meatball by adding ingredients like a 40/60 pork/beef mixture, Parmesan cheese, red chili peppers, plain old white bread and fresh basil. Smash it all up and you have yourself a behemoth or a meatball!

If you are thinking that you want to keep your sanity and devour maybe just a few of those giant meatballs, let’s dive into what fans of Kenny’s rant and rave about besides his meatballs.
Why not start with something light and fresh. Bruschetta is always a wise decision, and here at Kenny’s you will be praised of highly by everyone at the table for ordering it. Fresh baked bread piled high with perfectly ripened tomatoes, fresh basil, kalamata olives, roasted garlic, balsamic vinegar. Delizioso!
Anytime you see Calamari on a menu, it must be ordered. This isn’t your average run-of-the-mill calamari. This is THE calamari. Hefty pieces of fresh octopus deep fired in a light and crispy batter accompanied with Kenny’s famous house made red sauce and a spicy lemon garlic aioli will have you stuffing these in your mouth by the handful.
Everyone has their favorite Italian dish and mine happens to be lasagna. I think most every red blooded American shares this same sentiment. Kenny’s knows lasagna. Layer after layer of noodles, ground beef, sauce and 3 different cheeses, get ready to slip slowly into a beautiful and possibly permanent food coma. If you don’t get the lasagna on your first trip to Kenny’s Italian Kitchen because you heard that Kenny’s favorite dish is the Veal Parm (hint hint), then you must come back soon!
Pair everything with a fine Italian wine or a cocktail and you are sure to have a great time at Kenny’s Italian Kitchen. Saluti!
