Wake up and smell the coffee, Frisco! A new coffee shop has rolled into town. Nerdvana Coffee opened its doors this summer and is already all the buzz among coffee lovers and gamers. Nerdvana is located off Main Street in the same building as Gearbox’s office. The store brings together great local coffee and handmade pastries, and games of course!
Nerdvana’s co-owners include Kristy Pitchford, wife of Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, and her brother (and executive chef) Mike Junio. Chef Mike, who’s had lots of experience in the high-end dining industry, has collaborated with several local companies for its coffee and food. Supporting local businesses is front and center for Nerdvana.
Games!
Guests will see the heavy gaming influence right as they walk in. Play a variety of games including throwbacks like Connect Four and a mix of modern games. Plus, the WiFi is incredibly fast throughout the shop, and there are spots to charge your phones and tablets.
Get caffeinated!
Nerdvana takes its coffee very seriously but in a fun way. The shop offers a whole list of coffees, teas, drinking chocolates and juices.
The lattes are a hit here, and Nerdvana has a creative take on them. There’s even a machine that prints images and words on your latte, such as the cup of joe shown above. Additionally, guest roasts rotate monthly here and gives guests an opportunity to try a variety of coffee. You may discover a new coffee you’ll love!

Fresh pastries and toasts
The shop offers a variety of pastries and Texas toasts. The toasts are made in-house fresh every day with bread from Millstone Bakery (based in Dallas). These fluffy golden brown slices of bread with various toppings are sure to please your taste buds.
Here’s a peek of a few toasts I tried:
Caprese Toast
Avocado Toast
Cinnamon Pecan Toast (topped with locally-sourced honey and pecans)
Strawberries and Whipped Cream Toast
Get your nerd on at Nerdvana and let us know what you think! They’re open daily (M-F: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sat/Sun: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and located at 5757 Main St #111, Frisco, TX 75034.
Follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more updates.
Stay tuned this fall for Nerdvana’s full-service restaurant opening next door to the coffee shop. Chef Mike is currently putting together a contemporary American menu with a California influence.
