Pinstack, Plano’s luxury entertainment destination, rolled out new menu items to celebrate the fall season. If you haven’t visited Pinstack before, they’re located just right past Willowbend Mall off the Tollway. The center has a large area for bowling and also includes a variety of activities for all ages including arcade games, bumper cars, laser tag, a high ropes course and rock climbing. It’s a great spot for birthday parties (again, for ALL ages!), work events and happy hour. The dining area is separate from all the games, so you can enjoy your meal without the business of the entertainment. (You can also opt to order off the menu while in the bowling area and enjoy your food in that space.)
Here’s a look at what I tasted during my visit, and you can check out the complete menu here.
Starters
I must admit – I’m pretty obsessed with cheese boards. So if I see it on a menu somewhere, I immediately order it. Pinstack’s version is called the Artisan Meat and Cheese Board and includes rotating items from the executive chef and his team every day. During my visit, the chef topped the board with prosciutto and hot coppa meat slices. As for cheeses, my guest and I sampled creamy Brie slices, Sage Derby (don’t be fooled by its green color – this cheese is creamy and sweet!), Blueberry Cheese (tastes like a blueberry muffin) and a hard white cheese. Seedless olives, grapes and crackers added a nice element to this large appetizer.
One of the most sought-after appetizers at Pinstack is the Mac and Cheese Pops, shown below. Though these aren’t new, they make for a perfect starter before taking on your main meal. These fried breaded chunks are stuffed with gooey mac and cheese and served with a homemade tomato basil sauce.
The tacos shown below are considered a starter but, for me, could easily be a lunch entree. It’s really light yet satisfying. One taco option to consider selecting is the Street Tacos, a classic on the Pinterest menu. Mix and match your protein (chipotle chicken, brisket or carnitas) and guests can select three choices.
The Fish Tacos made their debut on the fall menu and includes blackened mahi-mahi, slices of strawberry (a sweet surprise for me), queso fresco and cilantro lime aioli (which adds a kick to this item). Side note: The tortilla bread is gluten-free.
Entrees
A few new entrees have also been placed on the menu including the 12 oz. Rib Eye and the Autumn Wedge Salad. Pictured below is the Gypsy Burger, named after the chef’s Irish friend, Gypsy! You’ll experience a sweet flavor at first from the jalapeno bacon marmalade and then a tangy and spicy taste from the whiskey pickled onions. Also, a layer of Gruyere (hard yellow cheese) adds a creamy texture to the entree. It has plenty of flavors in one bite!
The bun is gluten free, and guests can also request a wheat bun if desired. The dish comes with tasty garlic Parmesan fries that are just as big of a hit as the burger.
Dessert shooters
Pinstack’s in-house baker, Faith, brought out the company’s newest desserts – the Dessert Shooters. These scrumptious mini desserts come in four variations, shown below. They’re available for $3 each or try two flavors for $5. With its mini size, you can’t say no to dessert!
Pumpkin Cheesecake (left): This one is certainly a fall favorite to try out. The pumpkin and cheesecake tastes are well balanced. This shooter is topped with homemade vanilla whipped cream and candied bacon.
Mochaccino Chocolate Mousse (right): Topped with homemade vanilla whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate and chocolate coffee beans (my favorite part!).
Key Lime Pie (left): Indulge in a tart key lime pie shooter topped with homemade whipped cream, crushed graham crackers and a slice of lime. A delicious pie crust sits underneath.
Carmel Apple Pie (right): Another one of my favorite shooters since I love apple pie. This shooter comes with crunchy apple slices, a tasty salted caramel sauce and topped with diced pecan.
Keep up with Pinstack on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for more updates and special offers.
(Disclaimer: My menu items were complimentary, and all thoughts are my own. You can bet I’ll be back at Pinstack to play the games, climb the rock wall and enjoy more bites and drinks!)
