Last weekend, I was invited to check out the Tailgate Chef Competition which took place at Expressions Home Gallery in the Dallas Design District. Five local chefs and their teams were given a crate of mystery ingredients a couple days before the event and came up with a dish to wow the football fans. The box of mystery ingredients included bratwurst, ribs, pickles, apples, guacamole and Leprechaun Premium Hard Cider.
The following chefs participated in the event:
Anastacia Quinone (Kitchen LTO), Danyele McPherson (Remedy & HG Sply Co.), Jacob Williamson (Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck), Nathan Tate (Boulevardier & Rapscallion) and Patton Robertson (Sissys Southern Kitchen & Shelby Hall).
A few notable celebrity judges were in the house, including:
Dawn Neufeld (TV Personality), Steven Lindsey (Zagat Dallas), David Denney (Law Offices of David T. Denney), Sarah Blaskovich (Dallas Morning News) and Jennifer Chininis (CultureMap Dallas).
Guests enjoyed the food samples from each restaurant booth, and we voted for our favorite one. At the end of the event, the votes were counted, and Chef Patton Robertson of Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Shelby Hall won the contest as the ultimate Touchdown Tailgater! He served up Barbecue Parfait and pleased the crowd (see below).
Other favorite dishes included:Braised Pork Ribs and Bratwurst from Jacob Williamson (Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck)
Barbecue Tamales from Anastacia Quinones (Kitchen LTO)
Pork and Cheese Pizza Rolls with Avocado Dill Ranch from Danyele McPherson (Remedy & HG Supply Co.)
Barbecue Banh Mi Sandwiches were from Nathan Tate (Boulevardier & Rapscallion).
We also sampled refreshing cocktails provided by Reilly’s Whiskey and ice cold Leprechaun Premium Hard Cider. Both equally delicious. And I LOVED the pomegranate cider.
Funds raised from the event will go towards helping Café Momentums mission of transforming young lives by equipping the communitys most at-risk youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.
