I was doing the math yesterday, I’ve lived in Addison for 4 years now. Just a quick drive north of Dallas, the city of Addison certainly has it’s own personality. With some 500 restaurants in a 5 mile radius (I may exaggerate), it’s pretty much guaranteed that everyone’s taste buds can be happy.
The last few days I had the honor of trying out 14 of Addison’s hot spots. Myself, along with a few others visited FOURTEEN restaurants, in a 3 day span, to judge the taste, presentation, and creativity of each chef’s Competition Dish. This is a new add-on to this weekend’s big Taste Addison 2011 event! If you’ve never been, it’s a must.
In Food Nerd fashion I made a Foodspotting Guide out of the 14 stops & dishes so that you too can partake. If you foodspot 10 of the dishes you’ll get the Taste Competition badge on Foodspotting. These menu items will be available through June, you can ask for them each by name or ask for “The Competition Dish” at any of the locations.
Thursday evening the winners of the competition will be announced!
In alphabetical order here are the competition dishes…
Addison Point – Grilled BBQ Buffalo Chicken Sandwich: Sliced grilled chicken, hand tossed in our special buffalo sauce on a warm fresh roll. Along with fresh letuce, tomatoes, ranch and a side.
BlackFinn – Szechuan Steak Bites: Ribeye Steak Cubed and Fried to a perfect crispy texture tossed in a blackfinn szechuan glaze garnished with sesame seeds and topped with fried parsnip strings.
Blue Goose Cantina – Carnitas Tacos: A shredded and shopped slow roasted pork butt topped with fresh cilantro and onions, served in a flour tortilla with rice, beans, and a side of our salsa fresco.
Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House – Stuffed Tenderloin with sundried apples, baby spinach, bacon and Vermont cheddar with a 40 creek whisky sauce served with sweet potato grits.
Chef Pete’s Catering – Turkey Sloppy Joe: A healthy spin on an old favorite. Sloppy Joe’s made with lean turkey meat and sweet low fat BBQ sauce on a whole grain mini panini. Hearty and yummy!

Genghis Grill – Heart Healthy Bowl: Steak, steak house blend, 3g mix, broccoli, carrots, cilantro, Mongo BBQ Sauce, and brown rice. All grilled to perfection.
The Italian Club – Pork Spiedies: Based on a recipe from the Abruzzo region of Italy, spiedies (pronounced speedies) are cubes of pork marinated for several days and then cooked on a skewer over an open fire and served either on an Italian roll on the skewer with grilled vegetables.
Kenny’s Italian Grill – Midnight Meatball Pizza
The Lion & Crown – Salmon Cakes
Los Lupes – Fish Tacos: Three tacos, crispy or soft, with grilled tilapia fillet, served with rice, house salad & avocado slices.
Nate’s Seafood & Steak House – Redfish on the half shell
Sherlock’s Baker St. Pub – Irish Nachos: Homemade kettle-cooked potato chips layered with diced grilled chicken and shredded cheddar cheese and then baked. Topped with fresh, diced tomatoes, diced green onions and diced jalapeno peppers and served with ketchup and ranch.
