We were recently sent a few samples of Toffuti’s Pan Crust Pizza Pizzaz to try. The frozen pizzas currently come in two dairy-free flavors: Classic Original and Four Cheese and are vegan, dairy-free, kosher and contain no GMOs. I invited my friend over who follows a vegan lifestyle to help me try these pan pizzas.

We first started with the Classic Original with dairy-free mozzarella cheese. I followed the directions on the box which said to cook the pizza covered in foil at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. The pizza was cooked, but not as hot or crispy as we prefer our pizza. The pizza overall had a great taste. I was surprised at how melty the tofu cheese was – it seemed like we were eating an actual cheese pizza. We did add some pepper flakes to spice it up a bit. My friend said the pizza was a great foundation if you wanted to cook up your own veggies and add them on top to have a pretty healthy veggie pizza alternative if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant.tofutti 2

We then cooked up the Four Cheese pizza with mozzarella, cheddar, feta and ricotta dairy-free cheese. I bumped up the temperature to 400 and cooked them uncovered for 20 minutes. The pizza came out nice and hot and with a crispy crust which we were excited about. This pizza definitely had more flavor and we were still surprised that all this cheese was dairy free because it tasted like the real deal. Each pizza comes with three slices, and the two slices we had were more than enough to feel satisfied.

If you decide to try these pizzas at home, definitely cook them at a higher temperature if you like a crispy pizza crust. And maybe even take my friend’s idea and add some fresh toppings to jazz it up a bit.

It’s great that more and more companies are trying to help people with various food allergies and lifestyles not miss out on some classic foods. You can currently find Tofutti products at Whole Foods, Sprouts and other health food stores around Dallas. Enjoy!
