Urban Taco recently underwent a massive change at their Mockingbird Station location. Not only did they remodel, they completely moved the restaurant! Now bigger, better, brighter, and more modern, Urban Taco is finally ready to start welcoming back their favorite guests.

There are some new menu items, but the classics, of course, remain. Also, would you look at that patio?! Here are some reasons to stop by and see the beautiful new Urban Taco at Mockingbird Station!

Beverages

You can never go wrong with the Mango Agua Fresca! It’s totally worth the 3 bucks. I don’t know what sort of voodoo magic they put in it, but it’s the perfect non-alcoholic refresher! They also offered it in Hibiscus flavor. Don’t forget about your favorites; Mexican Coke, Jarritos, and Topo Chico are all available as well.

Appetizers

New menu item here! The guacamole comes with pico, lime, and “el original” chips, which in my opinion are to die for.

Of course, who can pass up a classic like the Salsa Trio? You have 12 options to choose from, and unfortunately, have to narrow it down to three. Pictured is the brand new Guajillo Piquin salsa, Avocado Lime Crema, and Jalapeno Zucchini. I can also vouch for Roasted Peanut Habanero, Black Bean & Corn Pico, Poblano Pepita Pesto, and Pineapple Pico.

You can also order queso, ceviche, empanadas, quesadillas, and yucca fries with an aioli dip.

Entrees

For lunch, I opted for a salad. Pictured here is the Baja Caesar salad with chicken. The jalapeno-cilantro caesar dressing is amazing on top of crisp romaine, queso fresco, corn, tortilla strips and marinated grilled chicken (which is super moist!) (Sorry if you hate that word.)

If you’re more in the mood for soup, don’t worry, they’ve got you covered with their classic Pozole Tortilla Soup.

Tacos

Can’t forget about the tacos! Pictured here is a sampling of various specialty tacos available now:

  • Al Pastor A La Tuma – (voted Top Ten Taco in Texas by Texas Monthly) al pastor taco + fried manchego cheese, roasted habanero salsa, avocado  $4.50
  • Tinga De Pollo – chile braised chicken & potatoes, queso fresco, avocado lime crema  $3.00
  • Dos Equis Barbacoa –  beer and chile braised beef, onions & cilantro, guajillo piquin salsa $3.00
  • Arrachera Steak – steak, salsa roja, rajas, manchego, onions, cilantro $3.25

You get your choice of corn or flour tortillas or lettuce wrap, and two sides. Pictured is the poblano green rice and black beans. Urban Taco also offers tortas served in either telera bread or a poblano green rice bowl with yucca fries and mango jicama slaw.

Dessert

We couldn’t leave without grabbing some churros, pictured below. More of a cheesecake fan? A new addition to the menu is Val’s Cheesecakes with a few different flavors to choose from. Tres Leches cake is also available.
