Step into the Windmill Lounge, a dive bar located off Maple Ave. in Dallas. You’ll feel like you’re in Chicago or NYC during the 1970s! The bar now has a new owner and some great changes. If you’ve been to this bar before, you’ve seen the jukeboxes, huge pieces of funky art and experienced its chill vibe. Guests can now enjoy a brand new menu of bar snacks and entrees – and we’ll get to that later.
Drinks
Windmill Lounge is dubbed the original cocktail house in Dallas. Drinks here are handmade and leave a lasting impression, like this Hemmingway Daiquiri with rum and grapefruit juice. Some other classic drinks with a twist to try out are the Windwill Whiskey Sour, the Park Avenue and The Louise. Happy hour takes place from 4-9 p.m. on weeknights, so go ahead and enjoy those extra, discounted drinks.
The new food menu
It only makes sense to grab a bite to eat while sipping on classic cocktails. Guests will see a new menu with a mix of simple and gourmet food. For example, the pizzas are made with dough prepared daily in house. The glazed chili almonds and marinated olives are the perfect munchies to pair with your drinks. Heavier items include the apple-glazed meatballs in a spicy marinara and Mexican potato skins with several grilled toppings. Don’t miss out on the new pressed sandwiches either – the Cuban was a hit with my group!
Now available at Windmill Lounge are salsas by One Eyed Jar, a Dallas-based sauce company. Patrons can purchase a bottle, enjoy the salsa while dining at the bar, and take the rest home. So simply and so tasty!
Windmill Lounge is located at 5320 Maple Ave and opens daily at 4 p.m.
